TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A car accident knocked out power for parts of the south side of Terre Haute early Saturday morning.

It happened just after midnight.

Police say a driver wrecked into a telephone pole near Center and Voorhees streets.

Electric crews cut power to the area after live power lines went into the street.

The areas without power stretch from Margaret Avenue through Hulman Street.

The driver of the car was transported to an area hospital. There is no word on a condition.
