FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The National Chicken Council says Americans will eat 1.2 billion chicken wings Sunday.

Albright's Meats and Deli says because of the fear of a nationwide chicken wing shortage, business is booming for them.

Lee Albright, the owner of Albright's Meats and Deli in Fort Wayne, said he plans ahead for the football game knowing bigger retailers face a better chance of running out ahead of time.

"I like to hear the word shortage, it creates a demand.  You know, and people run out and buy it so like I said I always have wings so I hope everybody in town runs out of wings because I'm going to have some," Albright said.

The deli, located at 4924 South Calhoun Street, is stocked with around 5,000 pounds of wings for the big game on Sunday, our sister station WANE reports.

Albright's Meats and Deli also sells cooked chicken wings with buffalo or barbeque sauce. Albright said the most cooked wings he has ever sold was during the Colts vs. Bears championship game in 2007. He sold 6,000 pounds of wings for that game. Albright believes he will sell around 4,000 pounds of cooked wings this year.
