INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indiana deputy attorney general has been assigned to Washington to monitor congressional bills and federal regulations that may affect the state.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller announced the appointment of Richard M. Bramer on Friday.

Zoeller says Bramer will work with members of Indiana's congressional delegation and report to the attorney general's office on issues so state officials can advise the government of the state's position.

Bramer previously served in the attorney general's office from 2002 to 2011 and returned recently after working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The position paying $55,500 annually will be funded through the office's existing budget.
