Dow AgroSciences to add 550 new jobs

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Dow AgroSciences plans a multi-year, multi-million dollar expansion which includes the construction of a 175,000 square foot research and development building, as well as a 14,000 square foot greenhouse.

Antonio Galindez/President & CEO, Dow AgroSciences explained, "We are looking for the best people in the world to help us to meet these challenges of growing more food for a high demand because we have a growing population who have limited resources, who have limited land, who have limited water and we need to increase our productivity and that's what we are focusing on."

The $340 million expansion will add more than 550 biological sciences jobs over the course of five years. "Smart people coming from our schools, coming from other states, we even take them from Illinois as we mentioned. We're not picky here as long as somebody wants to think and grow and work like a Hoosier." said Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. The Governor's remark was in reference to Daniel Kittle, the Vice President of Research and Development. He's part of overseeing the expansion.

Construction has already started at the corporate campus. Funding for this project includes tax credits and grants from both the state and the city of Indianapolis.

“We thank you for your investment in our community. It means quite a bit to us out here but also for all the partnerships you also are creating for everyone in the city," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.
