INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Unwanted prescription pills and liquids can be safely disposed of starting Friday.

The Indiana State Police Capitol Police Division is participating in a "drug take back" event Friday and Nationwide Saturday.

The event starts 11 a.m. Friday downtown Indianapolis at the ISP Capitol Police Division.

On Saturday the event includes all State Police posts and is designed to provide a safe way for the public to get rid of their unwanted prescription pills and liquids.

State Police are partnering up with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and they say its a tool to help fight prescription drug abuse.

The collection points will accept any and all prescription drugs and liquids.  They will not accept new or used needles.

The D-E-A held a similar nationwide event back in April and reports more than 500,000 pounds of unwanted prescription pills were collected and disposed of.
