Dyer soldier dies in Afghanistan blast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Another Indiana soldier has died fighting in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Monday the death of Dyer native Staff Sgt. David P. Nowaczyk, 32. He died Sunday from wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device, or IED.

Nowaczyk was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

This was Nowaczyk’s third deployment.
