Energy companies report power outages

MUNCIE, Ind. (ISH) - More than 1,000 households in Indiana are without power Tuesday.

According to American Electric Power Co., there were 1,253 power outages in Muncie as of 12:53 p.m.

Duke Energy has 274 outages – 169 in Carroll, Ind. – as of Tuesday afternoon. By noon, there were almost 700 locations without power.

24-Hour News 8 news partner WLFI says Duke Energy is working to fix the problem. There is no word yet on the cause of the power outages, but ice accumulating on trees and power lines could be to blame.
