ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) - The estate of a northeastern Indiana woman who co-owned an auto auction company with her husband has made a more than $1 million gift to three charitable groups.
Martha Rogers' estate made the $1.1 million gift Thursday to the Steuben County Community Foundation. An attorney for Rogers' estate, Craig Benson, says the Angola-based foundation is expected to receive another $1.5 million from the estate once the sale of Rogers' home on Lake James is complete.
Rogers was 88 when she died in August. Her husband, Don Rogers, died in 2002.
The Journal Gazette reports the money will create a permanently endowed fund for the Steuben County Council on Aging, Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Indiana and a job-training and rehabilitation center for adolescents and adults with disabilities.
