VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) - Relatives of a northwestern Indiana man who hanged himself in a county jail are suing the county's sheriff and jail warden, alleging that they denied the man access to his antidepressants.
The suit filed in Porter County on behalf of Alfred Angelini Jr. contends that jail staff refused to give Angelini his antidepressants and he hanged himself. Angelini died from his injuries Feb. 29 at a local hospital.
The Times of Munster reports that Porter County Sheriff Dave Lain and Warden John Widup are accused in the suit of failing to provide adequate and reasonable care.
A sheriff's department spokesperson said the department does not comment on pending litigation.
