FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTHI) - The first week of school ended with a giant surprise for two boys at Farmersburg Elementary.

Their dad, Eric Robertson, is a crew chief in the Air Force, and flew in last night after spending more than a year serving in Italy.

Robertson and his wife planned the surprise after he got in Thursday night from a 12-hour flight.

His sons, Kiedyn and Brennan, are in first grade and Kindergarten.

When classes got out, he was waiting for them.

Keidyn exclaimed, "When I first walked in I thought it was a different person, and now I realize that it's my dad!"

Kiedyn just had his 7th birthday, so the family has some celebrating to do.

They said they plan to ride roller coasters and visit the skate park.
