FEMA: More than $2 mil. disaster aid OK'd for Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - More than $2 million in federal aid has been approved for homeowners, businesses and others affected by southern Indiana tornadoes and other storms earlier this year.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says that through Thursday nearly $1.2 million has been approved to pay for expenses not covered by insurance or other programs. That includes temporary rental assistance, repairing and replacing household items, and disaster-related medical costs.

FEMA also says the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved more than $990,000 in low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits.

Storms caused extensive damage Feb. 29th through March 3rd in Clark, Jefferson, Ripley, Scott, Warrick and Washington counties.
