INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The number of flu-related deaths in Indiana has increased, officials with the State Health Department said.
Officials said Monday there were 43 deaths tied to influenza.
Many of the deaths in the state have been people with pre-existing conditions. Officials have been urging people to get the flu vaccine if they haven’t.
In addition to an outbreak of influenza, health officials said Indiana is dealing with cases of norovirus , or what is commonly called the "stomach flu." The flu vaccine does not protect against norovirus.
