ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - A building that formerly housed a large farmers market in northern Indiana is back up for sale a little more than a year after it was bought by a trash collection and recycling company.
FM Stone Commercial partner John Letherman tells The Elkhart Truth the American Countryside Farmer's Market site along with up to 95 acres is up for sale. The site was part of a larger parcel purchased by Waste-Away Group in June, 2011.
The building is a 51,000-square-foot red barn that was built predominantly by Amish workers. The market opened in 2007 with nearly 500 indoor and outdoor vendor spaces and closed in September 2010 druing the economic downturn.
Letherman says the site hasn't been publicly listed.
