Fort Wayne board OKs Indiana Tech law school plans

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana Tech has won city approval for its plans to build a law school at its Fort Wayne campus.

The city's Board of Zoning Appeals on Thursday unanimously supported the proposed three-story, 70,000-square-foot building. Indiana Tech officials expect the law school to have 100 students when it opens in the fall of 2013 and grow to about 360 students when it's in full operation.

The Journal Gazette (http://bit.ly/HY5G5W ) reports one resident told the board she was concerned that increased traffic would cause problems in an already congested area east of the city's downtown. But Indiana Tech attorney Pat Hess says precautions have been taken to ensure the area is safe.

The private university's law school will be the fifth one in the state.
