GARY, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police say a Gary man has been arrested on a preliminary murder charge after authorities found human remains buried in his backyard.
State police Sgt. Ann Wojas says 31-year-old Calvin Peacock was being held Saturday at the Lake County Jail in Crown Point.
Wojas says authorities received a report earlier this week about possible remains buried in an unincorporated area near Gary. A search warrant was issued on Friday and police found human remains.
She says the remains are those of an adult male. Authorities have not determined how long the remains were buried.
