INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The family of a 4-year-old Michigan girl who was struck by a pickup truck at the Indiana State Fairgrounds says she has a crushed pelvis, two broken arms and internal injuries.
Madalynn Gembala of Buchanan, Mich. remained in serious condition Friday at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She was injured Wednesday when she broke free of her mother, darted into a fair access road and was struck by the pickup. Friday was the first time the family disclosed the extent of her injuries.
A statement from the family released by the hospital says Madalynn continues to improve each day. The family also thanked the community for their support and the hospital for the care Madalynn has received.
State fair officials have said they are reviewing safety procedures.
