EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The Republican leader in the U.S. House visited southern Indiana to help boost the GOP candidate for an open congressional seat.
Minority Leader John Boehner said during Monday's stop in Evansville that the 8th District seat is one Republicans can win since Democratic Rep. Brad Ellsworth is giving it up to for the U.S. Senate.
Boehner says he believes Republican candidate Larry Bucshon is a good fit for what is a conservative district.
Bucshon is a heart surgeon from Newburgh and will face Democratic state Rep. Trent Van Haaften of Mount Vernon in the November election.
