PEKIN, Ind. (AP) — A group that has led recovery efforts in southern Indiana communities devastated by tornadoes a year ago is working to help residents preserve their memories of that day.

March2Recovery has begun a project to collect written stories, photographs or scrapbook pages from residents describing how the tornadoes affected their lives. The organization also plans to videotape survivors' accounts.

The works will be given to the Clark County Museum.

Group member Jennifer Mills-Knutsen tells the News and Tribune many residents don't want to forget what they experienced in the storm or how they've recovered.

A young family of five died in Pekin in the March 2, 2012, tornadoes. A total of 14 people died across southern Indiana.
