INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana's largest homeless shelter, Wheeler Mission, teamed up with running group Back on My Feet, an organization that helps the city’s homeless with job training and housing.
Over 100 people braved the cold Monday for a run that kicked off at 5:45 a.m. celebrating the partnership.
After 30 days, a member of Back on My Feet who maintains 90 percent participation in morning runs (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) will gain access to job training, employment and housing opportunities.
Organizers say running builds the strength, confidence and self-esteem needed to help the homeless become self-sufficient.
