INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - It's Halloween, and while the kids are all about the candy, police want you to be focused on keeping kids safe.

24-Hour News 8 anchor Scott Sander talks with Noblesville Police Department Lt. Bruce Barnes about what watch out for. Click to play in the video player above to hear more.

Some of the notable advice:

  • Drivers should slow down in neighborhoods and beware of kids darting into the streets.
  • Participating residents should leave lights on and clear pathways.
  • Trick-or-treaters should walk in groups and never enter homes of unfamiliar people.
  • When it comes to costumes, make sure they don’t obstruct your vision or your kids’ vision, and make sure they include reflective areas so drivers can see you well.
  • And make sure you inspect your candy before eating it.
