SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The Indiana native who's commanding the International Space Station says one of the things he misses most while in orbit is gravity.
Astronaut Kevin Ford told WNDU-TV of South Bend in an interview from the space station that a gravity-free environment can be fun but is an adjustment because sometimes things go flying.
The 52-year-old is from the Blackford County city of Montpelier, about 40 miles south of Fort Wayne. He arrived at the station on Oct. 25 and is scheduled to stay until March.
The University of Notre Dame graduate wore a school football T-shirt for the interview and says he was able to watch the top-ranked Fighting Irish beat Southern Cal last week. He's hoping he'll get to watch the BCS championship game in January.
