ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - One of two horses shot last week in Anderson is back in his stable recovering. His owner, Bobby Stone, says he’s just happy one of his horses survived.
Stone says his two horses, six-year-old Lucy, and three-year-old Sonny, were shot several times with a shotgun and a handgun in their pasture last week.
Lucy didn’t make it, and Sunny was rushed to the Purdue University Animal Hospital in serious condition.
Tuesday, Sunny was released to finish his recovery at home.
“I’m just happy that he’s home. I can baby him now,” said Stone. “He’s doing a lot better. He’s happy and I’m happy.”
Stone says Sunny still has a bullet in his back, and pellets in his stomach from a shot gun. He takes antibiotics two times a day.
He’s hopeful he’ll be able to ride him again.
“I think he’ll come through. He’s a pretty strong horse. Big hearted,” said Stone.
Stone says he’s also hoping to thank everyone for helping him through this. His friends raised money this weekend to help pay for Sunny’s hospital bills.
Police say the investigation into who did this continues.
“I just hope they find them, and justice is done,” said Stone. “They never hurt anybody.”
