ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) - Conservation officers say an 80-year-old northern Indiana man was seriously injured when he fell from a tree stand while deer hunting.

Carl Folk Jr. fell about 24 feet when he lost his balance and fell about 7:30 a.m. Saturday as he was attempting to climb down from the tree stand after legal hunting hours.

The Journal Gazette reports that the Ligonier man suffered the fall in southeastern Steuben County as his son was helping him leave the stand and step onto a ladder leading to ground.

Folk was listed in a serious condition Sunday afternoon at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
