NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - Vehicles traveling during the day on the Sherman Minton Bridge that connects New Albany and Louisville, Ky., will see lane closures during week days over the next month.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the lane closures are needed so crews will close a lane each day to perform lighting maintenance on the bridge. The department says the closures are not expected to impact rush hour because the lanes will be closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work will begin on the upper deck of the bridge that carries Interstate 64 westbound traffic over the Ohio River. INDOT encourages motorists to slow down and pay attention while traveling through work zones.

The bridge was closed for five months about a year ago after a steel crack was discovered.
