Ind. schools work to ensure iPads aren't misused

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana school systems that issue iPads to students say they are working to make sure students are using the devices properly and ease parents' concerns they may be used to post items on social media or download inappropriate content.
East Allen County Schools director of accountability Bill Diehl tells The Journal Gazette that Apple updated its filtering options making iPads more secure. But he also says that any district with that type of technology will have problems with students not using the devices for educational purposes only.
School administrators say when there are problems they work to try teach the students lessons about why what they did was wrong. Diehl says for students who don't follow rules, schools can essentially turn the tablet into an electronic notebook.
