TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Some Vigo County folks will soon find themselves without a job. Bemis officials announced that around 100 people will be laid off from the Terre Haute plant effective December 1.

Bemis makes packaging for food and consumer product companies.

A company spokesperson says they asked their clients to start producing now instead of their busy time in March, but considering the economic times they didn't bite.

"This year however in light of the economy that we are dealing with right now those customers are not willing to make a bet on what demand is going to be like in the spring," said the Vice President of Bemis Melanie Miller.

Company officials say they will hopefully re-staff in March.
