INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The state of Indiana is awarding five grants totaling more than $420,000 to towns or organizations to increase access and camping opportunities along the Wabash River.

The town of Attica will receive nearly $140,000 to improve camping at Ouabache Park in Fountain County, and the town of Montezuma will receive $120,000 to improve camping facilities and to develop a park trail.

Two Carroll County groups will share $105,000 for camping and small boat access at Pittsburg Riverfront Park and a bridge and trail at Wabash & Erie Canal Park. Historic Forks of the Wabash will receive $56,000 for camping and canoe access to Ehler Island in Wabash County.

The grants were announced last week by the Department of Natural Resources and the Wabash River Heritage Corridor Commission.
