TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State University officials say the school's fall semester enrollment is up about 5 percent to its highest level in nearly 20 years.
Indiana State says 12,114 students are taking classes at the Terre Haute campus. The enrollment jump puts the school over the 12,000 mark two years ahead of a target set by its president.
The Tribune-Star reports that Indiana State attributes much of the enrollment increase to larger freshmen classes, more transfer students and better retention rates.
School President Dan Bradley made enrollment growth a priority after he took office in 2008 and the number of students had dropped to about 10,500.
