Indiana warns stockbrokers late on child support

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Stockbrokers behind on child support and not making payments could have their professional licenses suspended if they don't pay up.

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson has sent warning letters to stockbrokers behind on their payments. She worked with the Department of Child Services to identify financial professionals who are registered with the Securities Division of the Secretary of State's office and who are behind on child support and not making payments.

She says four stockbrokers owe at least $4,000 each.

The total amount owed is more than $160,000.

The General Assembly gave the secretary of state the authority to take such action earlier this year.
