INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana State Department of Health said Monday Indiana’s flu death toll is at 44 people after rising steadily last month.
State health officials are nonetheless urging Hoosiers to consider getting a flu vaccination and to follow personal hygiene steps to reduce the spread of the flu. The agency says people should wash their hands, cover their mouths when coughing and stay at home if they're sick.
Most of Indiana's flu deaths have been among people ages 65 and older with underlying medical conditions such as heart disease and diabetes and renal disease.
