COVINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Police say a 76-year-old hunter was on the ground injured for nearly 13 hours before being found in a rural area of western Indiana.

State conservation officers say Richard Hornaday of Covington suffered a leg injury on Monday when he fell almost 10 feet from a homemade tree stand in western Fountain County. Officers say Hornaday fell Monday morning and wasn't found by a relative until late evening.

Hornaday was flown by helicopter to a Champaign, Ill., hospital for treatment. Officers say he wasn't wearing a safety harness when he fell from the tree stand.
