FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is
offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and
conviction of the individual who called in a bomb threat to the
university earlier this week.
Anyone with information about this individual should contact
University Police Chief Jeff Davis at 260-481-6827.
Administrators say they will prosecute any suspect to the
fullest extent of the law.
Bomb threats require temporary building evacuations which are
extremely disruptive for IPFW students, staff, and faculty. These
threats also waste state resources in the form of employee time and
energy.
“Our ability to provide our students with a
high-quality education is severely diminished when interruptions
like this occur,” said Chancellor Michael Wartell.
“Many of our students drive from off campus and out of town
to attend classes or participate in study groups. Closing buildings
for bomb threats hinders their studies and wastes their
time.”
The reward follows a bomb threat made Tuesday afternoon, Nov.
10, 2009, in which Kettler Hall was put under a voluntary
evacuation. Police searched the building and determined there was
no bomb.
