INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - David Ison will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to killing five people in the rural Franklin County community of Laurel.
Ison, who was charged in October with five counts of murder, was sentenced in a Franklin County court Wednesday morning to a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Ison was charged after the September deaths of Roy Napier, 50; his estranged wife, Angela Napier, 47; their children, Melissa Napier, 23, and Jacob Napier, 18; and family friend Henry Smith, 43.
Although he originally pleaded not guilty, Ison in February changed his plea to guilty for all five murder charges. The plea change wasn’t part of a plea agreement; Ison voluntarily changed his plea.
