INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An urban search and rescue team from central Indiana has wrapped up its work on the streets of Long Island following the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy.
Indiana Task Force 1 is expected to return to Indianapolis on Wednesday.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency activated the 80-member team last week after the storm hit the East Coast. The Indianapolis Fire Department leads the task force, which also includes police officers, doctors and medics from 22 central Indiana agencies.
Battalion Chief and Task Force 1 coordinator Thomas Neal says the team left New York on Tuesday morning.
