FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Barbara Schmucker's life was cut short. She was just 17 when she died in a car crash Saturday morning.

"She was energetic," her brother Freeman Schmucker said. "No matter who you are she could make you smile."

She died when the car she was in pulled out in front of the tour bus carrying Christian band MercyMe at the intersection of Lima and Coliseum early Saturday morning.

"Her life was just starting. She was only 17. You never know what is going to come tomorrow," Freeman Schmucker said.

The driver of the car, Kara Klinker, 18, was nearly 9-months pregnant. Her baby was stillborn shortly after she arrived at the hospital. She passed away on Tuesday afternoon. Schmucker's boyfriend, Dario Boutte, 19,  also died in the crash. No one on the tour bus was hurt.

Schmucker was an honor roll student at Northrop High School. She held two jobs and played basketball. She left behind a big family. Now while they grieve, they also are worrying about how to pay for her funeral. Schmucker didn't have life insurance.

"We're trying to come up with fundraising for the burial," Freeman Schmucker said.

If you'd like to help, the family has set up a donation fund at Fort Financial Credit Union locations on Spring Street and Meijer stores under the name of 'Barbara Schmucker.'
