Cubmaster charged: theft from own troop

38-year-old Jane Alison Popejoy was Cubmaster and Treasurer of Cub Scout Pack 3165. Now, Indiana State Police have charged this Ambia woman with stealing from the troop she was supposed to be leading.

State Police Sergeant Tom McKee said the department was asked to investigate the theft of about $3,000 from the pack.

McKee said the money turned up missing while Popejoy was leading the organization.

Popejoy turned hersef in to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department on Monday and was released after posting bond.

She has been charged with a class D felony count of theft.

McKee said the charges were filed following a seven month investigation.
