SHELBURN, Ind. (WISH) - A Jasonville man was injured Saturday after falling 20 feet from an elevated deer hunting stand.
The 18-year-old was climbing a tree when a branch broke, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
He was able to call his mother, who knew where his hunting location was. He was not wearing a safety harness when he fell.
Because of injuries to his back and lower extremities he was taken by Lifeline to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Indiana Conservation Officers recommend hunters always wear a full body safety harness when climbing a tree or hunting from an elevated stand.
