SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - The Indiana State Police found a 1933 Ford pickup truck in a pond near CR 75 North and 150 East early Sunday morning.
The truck appeared to be on its side in about three feet of water. Officers broke the window of the truck and found the driver unconscious and unresponsive in the front seat. Officers were not able to free the man from the vehicle and he was pronounced dead on scene.
Investigation shows the red Ford pickup was eastbound on CR75 N and failed to stop at CR 150 E. The truck continued to strike a traffic control sign and travel down and embankment before reaching the water.
Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
An autopsy is scheduled for the driver of the vehicle at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
We will continue to update this story with more information as it becomes available.
