EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A Newburgh man is facing charges after DNR officers said he illegally shot a rare albino deer, 24-Hour News 8 news partner WLKY reports .
State law prohibits people from shooting deer from a public road and using artificial light to do it. But that's what officers said the man did on the night of Nov. 17 in Warrick County.
Officers said the man shot the deer in an area with several homes nearby. Neighbors were able to track the man down and hold him until police arrived.
Now some say they're concerned about safety.
"We have elementary children that live in the neighborhood,” said Ginger Wilcox, an area resident.
Officers said the deer was so badly hurt, they had to put it down.
