LYNVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A coroner says a man killed while walking along Interstate 64 in southwestern Indiana was making his way back home to West Virginia on foot.
The Warrick County coroner says 45-year-old Billy Haney of Lewisburg, W.Va, was killed when he was hit by a car Tuesday night along the highway's eastbound lanes near the town of Lynnville.
Coroner Eddie Goff tells the Evansville Courier & Press that Haney's family said he was walking from St. Louis to Lewisburg. Goff says Haney had relatives in St. Louis and had made the 600-mile trip before.
Police said circumstances of the crash about 20 miles north of Evansville remained under investigation.
