NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) - Manchester College in northern Indiana is changing its name to Manchester University this summer.
The name change comes as the North Manchester-based school is expected to open its new School of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne in August.
Manchester vice president Dave McFadden tells The Journal Gazette ( http://bit.ly/IzB7BG ) that adopting the university name reflects the school's growing complexity. Besides the doctor of pharmacy program, Manchester offers master's degrees in education and athletic training.
The private liberal arts school with about 1,300 students was founded in 1899.
The name change will be official July 1 but will be implemented over the next several months.
