FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Officials with Animal Care and Control said a woman was attacked by a dog that's a Mastiff/Pit Bull mix while she was walking her own dog Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the woman was walking her dog and pushing a baby in a stroller when she came across the dog in the 700 block of Kenwood Ave.

The dog started attacking the woman's dog. When she went to protect her own animal, the dog bit her.

Animal Care and Control said the woman's injuries are not life-threatening. The baby was not hurt. There was also a cat that was killed.

Officials said the dog had been running loose. They have the dog now at Animal Care and Control and know who the owner is, but they haven't been able to get in contact with that person.

Officers said the owner of the dog will face charges.

Animal Care and Control asks anyone with information about this attack to call 260-427-1244.
