Maximize coupon savings locally

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis was recently ranked the fifth most frugal city nationwide by discount provider Save Everyday .

The distinction was given based on the number of coupons Hoosiers use.

One local couponing expert, Briana Carter , runs her own savings site and offered ways to maximize what you save.

First, she said, hang onto Sunday coupons until you find another discount offer, like a weekly flyer. You’ll save more money by combining the two.

She also took us through ways to save outside the grocery store, like with your kids this summer.

Carter suggested Indianapolis with Kids to find free events for kids and families, like bowling and movies.

Lastly, if you're coupon hunting online, make sure you're at a legitimate website, like coupons.com. She said to be sure the web address matches the name of the website.

Carter, a mom of four, also works a full-time job. She estimated couponing takes her about one to two hours each week.
