FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a northeastern Indiana man has died from injuries he suffered when his motorcycle hit a deer and he was then was run over by a car.
The Allen County coroner's office says 51-year-old Robert Mayo of Huntington died at a hospital hours after the crash Monday on a four-lane section of U.S. 24 on Fort Wayne's west side.
The Journal Gazette reports ( http://bit.ly/LUVeND ) witnesses told police that Mayo tried to avoid the deer when it ran across the road but that he went down and was separated from his bike after hitting the animal. Police say the driver of a car behind the motorcycle wasn't able to avoid running over him.
The driver of the car wasn't hurt.
