ASHLEY, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in northeastern Indiana say a motorcyclist was found after he crashed while fleeing from a police officer.

The Ashley Police Department tells WANE-TV an officer tried to stop the motorcyclist about 1 a.m. Wednesday for a traffic infraction when he drove away at a high speed from the town onto a county road.

Police say the officer lost sight of the motorcycle but found it crashed off the rural road a few miles from the town. The Steuben County coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne.
