VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) - A northwestern Indiana airport has received a $143,000 federal grant that will help guide its development over the next two decades.

Porter County Regional Airport Director Kyle Kuebler says the Federal Aviation Administration grant will allow the Valparaiso airport to take elements of its master plan "from concept to construction" and update its master plan to identify future needs.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky says the grant will not only help the airport with its long-term growth but also give it a boost in attracting new jobs and new businesses to northwestern Indiana.
