INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis will soon play host to one of the fastest growing conventions in the country, the Convention and Visitors Association announced Monday.

The 2012 through 2014 Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expos are expected to bring more than 12,000 people to Indianapolis and generate $24 million in visitor spending.

The annual event is the 75th largest tradeshow in the U.S.

"As a direct result of expanding the Indiana Convention Center, additional hotel product coming online, and the continued enhancements of our downtown, we were able to lure this sought-after convention to Indianapolis," said Don Welsh, president and CEO of the ICVA. "Due to its sheer size, this tradeshow is a perfect example of a convention that wouldn't even consider Indianapolis pre-expansion."

The tradeshow will monopolize the entire expanding Indiana Convention Center-more than 566,000 square feet-and consume hotel rooms downtown and throughout surrounding suburban areas.
