Nine companies look to add Ind. jobs

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Nine companies plan to create 2,552 new jobs in Indiana by 2018, Gov. Mitch Daniels announced Tuesday.

The company with the greatest anticipated growth is Angie’s List, which plans to create up to 850 jobs by 2017 while expanding its Indiana base.

"We are really excited about that. those jobs will span from Customer service to sales to engineering across all areas of our business" said co-founder Angie Hicks.

Atwood Mobile Products, BidPal, Brunswick Fort Wayne Operations, Café Valley, ExactTarget, Inventure Foods, Mitsubishi Engine North America and Moorehead Communications are the other eight companies planning job growth.

To encourage the companies, the State dangled incentive carrots in front of each of the businesses.  The incentives total more than $30 million in tax credits and training grants. For Indiana, it's the cost of doing business.

"We never risk a tax payer dollar on incentive. If the job did not happen because business changes, then the temporary tax relief doesn't wither" said Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.

Daniels expects to make more job announcements before he leaves in mid January.
