SEYMOUR, Ind. (AP) - Tests are blaming an illness that shut down a southern Indiana
school this month on a virus that causes a type of stomach flu.
More than 100 students and two teachers at the Seymour Middle
School sixth grade center became sick from the norovirus and the
school was closed on Nov. 6.
Paul Ramsey of the Jackson County Health Department said
precautions are being taken as the virus is suspected to have
spread to a Seymour elementary school after many students were
absent or sent home Friday with similar symptoms of vomiting and
diarrhea.
Ramsey said school staffers have been working to clean and disinfect classrooms and surfaces. The source of the virus hasn't been determined.
