MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) — A northwest Indiana hospital plans a $33 million expansion of its emergency department.
The Community Hospital said Wednesday that the two-year project at its Munster campus will include a four-story addition. The project will add private rooms and expand capacity for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the surgery unit and for stroke and heart patients.
A news release says all hospital services will remain open during the multiphase project.
The last major expansion at Community was three years ago. Community has 427 beds, about 3,000 employees and a medical staff of 600.
Construction is slated to start Monday.
